ODYTA Summary

Asunción is now history. The races are over, the stopwatches have stopped and the medals have been awarded. But something continues to beat long after the lights go out at a World Championship: the emotion of those who gave everything to represent their country. Over nine days, from October 10 to 18, seven Spanish skaters defended Spain's colors against the best specialists on the planet. Seven athletes with different backgrounds, personal dreams and the same responsibility: to show how far Spanish speed skating can go. It was not an easy World Championship. Rain, changes to the schedule, waiting and the enormous demands of each competition tested both the legs and the mental strength of the participants. But Spain responded, with speed, intelligence, endurance and character, with victories that made people cheer and with defeats that are also part of the path toward excellence.
