The second stop of the Pan-American Speed Track Series, an international club competition organized by World Skate America, concluded at the Carlos Merino skating rink in Guayaquil's Pancho Jiménez Sports Complex. The event was operated logistically and sportingly by the Ecuadorian Skating Federation with support from the Government of Ecuador, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee and Fedeguayas. Around 500 athletes from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Ecuador competed across youth, transition/intermediate and senior categories, and organizers said the program was completed despite persistent rain. Organizers said world champions from Colombia, Chile and Ecuador took part, raising the competitive level. In the senior category standings, Elsa Mendoza of Ecuador placed fourth with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal, while Bont World Team completed the top five with 2 golds and 1 bronze. After 24 senior races, athletes from 21 clubs reached the podium, according to the report.
